Iris
Iris este cea mai cunoscuta formatie de rock din România, fondată in 1977, la Bucuresti.
Din prima componenta au facut parte Nutu Olteanu (chitara, vocal), Emil Lechinteanu (chitara bas) si Nelu Dumitrescu (baterie). Formatia a trecut prin numeroase schimbări de formula, cea actuala (din 1986) incluzandu-i pe Valter Popa (chitara), Ion „Nelu” Dumitrescu (baterie), Doru „Boro” Borobeica (bas), Cristian Minculescu (voce) si Relu Marin (clape).
Peste 20 de albume, 2 dvd-uri, zeci de single-uri si premii – acestea sunt cifrele ce caracterizeaza cel mai bine cariera trupei.
In iulie 2007, formatia a cantat in deschiderea concertului Rolling Stones, iar pe 5 octombrie in acelasi an a sarbatorit 30 de ani de existenta printr-un concert extraordinar pe Aeroportul Baneasa. Cu aceasta ocazie au lansat un dublu CD, intitulat ‚Cei ce vor fi’, album ce a primit Discul de Platina pentru vanzarile realizate.
Pe 8 octombrie 2009 , formatia a sustinut la Sala Polivalentă din Bucuresti primul mare concert dupa operatia de transplant de ficat suferita de Cristi Minculescu. Biletele s-au epuizat cu mult inainte de data concertului, in sala fiind prezenti peste 7000 de fani. Cu ocazia acestui spectacol a fost lansata si ‚Integrala Iris’, un boxset cuprinzand toata discografia trupei. Materialul include si primele 5 albume din istoria trupei pe cd lansate pana la acel moment doar pe vinil.
2010 a fost si el un an bun pentru Iris, ei lansand dvd-ul ‚Iris – Aeterna’ cu concertul din octombrie 2009. In toamna acestui an Iris au lansat si primul material integral nou din ultimii 3 ani, ‚12 Porti’, urmat de un concert grandios la Sala Palatului.

Iris, founded in 1977 in Bucharest, is the most famous Romanian rock band.
The band primarily consisted of Nuțu Olteanu (guitar, vocal), Emil Lechințeanu (bass guitar) and Nelu Dumitrescu (drums). Over the years the group evolved until it reached its final lineup in 1986 with Valter Popa (guitar), Ion „Nelu” Dumitrescu (drums), Doru „Boro” Borobeică (bass guitar), Cristian Minculescu (vocal) and Relu Marin (keyboard).
With over 20 albums, 2 DVDs, tens of singles and awards, Iris’s career has been en epic story of success.
In July 2007 the band opened for Rolling Stones and on the 5th of October they celebrated 30 years of uninterrupted activity through an extraordinary concert that took place on the Baneasa Airport. With this occasion they released a double CD by the name of “The ones that will be” which received the Platinum Disc shortly after.
On the 8th of October 2009 the band had its first mainstream concert at Sala Polivalenta after the kidney transplant that Cristi Minculescu had to undergo. The tickets were sold out long before the venue and more than 7000 fans attended. With this occasion, a box set with their discography had been released. It also included their first 5 albums, previously presented only on vinyl. All of the above are now available in CD format.
2010 has also been a great year for Iris as they released the DVD “Iris – Aeterna Daruind vei Dobandi” with their October 2009 concert. They are now very busy in preparation for this autumn’s great concert, which will precede the release of a new album.
