Giulia Nahmany

English Version

Born on 16th of January 1983, in the town of Kfar Saba in Israel, Giulia knew in a very early age that she had the passion to sing and to be a performer. At the age of six, Giulia and her family move to Antwerp, Belgium. There, Giulia had to learn Flemish. It was very difficult for her to adapt to a new school, new friends, and new culture. Her family lived there for almost four years, and by the time Giulia spoke perfect Flemish, she had to move again. This time to Bucharest, Romania.

Giulia already knew Romanian, as her parents come from Romanian origin. Although she thought this time would be easier for her, her parents decided she would study at the American International school of Bucharest. Giulia didnt know a word in English, and so she had to learn a whole new language, again. Giulia was 10, and begain taking piano & vocal lessons. She participated in every school play and took part of the school choir. All her friends knew she would become a singer, actress, or a prezenter. You could tell early on that Giulia was born to be in show-biz. For her sixteenth birthday, Giulia got to record her first song composed by ADRIAN ORDEAN, who was one of the top composers at that time, composing melodies to A.S.I.A, a very well-known pop group in Romania. The song was called IM FEELING SO ALONE. Giulia was excited and decided she wanted to participate at MANGALIA MUSIC FESTIVAL. It was 1998, and Giulia entered the contest with a song called I DO, sung originally by JESSICA. Although she did not win any prizes, in 1999, Giulia decided she would participate at an open audition. Giulia did the audition and was selected among hundreds of girls to become a VJ for MCM Romania, now known as MTV. That’s when Giulia received her first opportunity to prezent her own show! In 2000, Giulia was asked personally by the ambassador of Israel in Romania, Mr. Avi Milo, to sing live at the national OPERA HOUSE for Israel’s independance day. It was an honor for Giulia to sing four amazing songs; AMEN, HAI ( originally sung by OFRAH HAZA), HAPPY BIRTHDAY ( EDEN), and last but not least the TIKVA ( Israel’s National Anthem). Also in 2000, Giulia released her first video for MTV Romania called SUNA, SUNA. Being her first videoshoot, Giulia was very excited work with such proffesionals. The video was shot in two locations. One location was ANGELA SIMILEA’S house. Angela is one of Romanian’s most famous singers of all time. Although Giulia’s dream was to study Musical Theatre in New York, Giulia ended up studying in London from 2001- 2004. She studied BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION, and received her Bachelor of Science degree from HURON UNIVERSITY USA in LONDON. After receiving her degree, Giulia decided to move back Israel, the country she was born in, and pursue her music career. She contacted NANCY BRANDES, one of Israel’s well-known personalities, and he put her in touch with two musical producers. Edi Somiren and Ran Harush ( known as MAGIC). Giulia recorded thirteen tracks. Half of the album’s lyrics were written by Baruch Friedland, and half by Giulia. One of the tracks became a single. The song was called MYSTERY CALLED LOVE. The video was shot in Bucharest, and was constantly played on CHANNEL 24 ( Israel’s music channel). Other singles released from those tracks were HAYAT HALAYLA ( creature of the night). HAYAT HALAYLA’S video was shot in sighisoara. The location was beautful and the video came out fantastic! In 2005, Giulia contacted Romania’s top musical producer MARIUS MOGA to make a featuring with MORANDI for the song BEIJO-UH LA LA half in Hebrew and half in Portuguese. This song was an instant hit in Israel, and constantly played on RADIUS 100 FM. Following this collaboration, Giulia was chosed to represent Israel for CERBUL DE AUR ( The Golden Stag Festival) in Brasov. Giulia had an amazing performance, and the crown loved her, earning her the popularity prize through tele-voting. Giulia was so happy, and decided she would move back to Romania to pursue her career there. She contacted PAPA JR, a performer as well as a composer. He wrote a couple tracks for her. DONT WANT THE PAIN, MAKE IT, HAVA NAGHILA ( cover), EVER-LASTING LOVE ( cover), and DIVA ( cover). In 2007 , Giulia enters to be part of the 24 semfinalists for the Eurovision Song Contest in Romania, with the song MAKE IT , but did not get to perform as she was accused of plagarism. Giulia settled with EMI music record, but it was too late to perform. In 2008 Giulia opened Romania’s most prestigious make-up school. Giulia took the initiative to meet up with Mr. Jean-Pierre Fleurimon, and received the franchise of FLEURIMON-PARIS. From this collaboration MAKE-UP ACADEMY GIULIA NAHMANY & FLEURIMON PARIS was created. In November 2008, Giulia became the co-producer with TVR ( Romanian National Broadcaster) to produce the show called TRANSFORMAREA. TRANSFORMAREA is aired every Saturday on TVR1, and Giulia also presents the show! TRANSFORMAREA is a light- talk show, taking two women and changing their look. New make-up, new hair-due, and new clothes will take these women on a new journey to self-discovery. During the show viewers can see how this transformation occurs, and towards the end of the show, they come live to the studio to show their brand new look! Viewers can also enjoy seeing their favorite singers, actors, comedians, and well-known personalities in the show, discussing specific topics. In February 2009, Giulia shoots the video for FEEL THE MUSIC. The song was composed by Mihai Alexandru, a very talented composer, who also wrote tracks for NICOLA. Feel the music is an up-beat song with little oriental nuances. Also in 2009, Giulia records the song FLY LIKE AN ANGEL, a beautiful ballad that could touch everyone’s heart. This song also composed by Alexandru. In the summer of 2009, Giulia succeeds in changing her look and losing more than 12 kg. “Its the first time I feel good with myself and with my body! Its a great feeling and I hope I can be an inspiration for other girls!”, says Giuia. She started writing her book about how she lost weight and the difficulties she under-went in entering the world of show-biz and how it made her become the strong person she is today. She will soon release her own BRIDAL & JEWELRY COLLECTION and hopes to release her long- waited album in Romania.
