Manuel Riva is an electronic music DJ and producer famous for his Billboard Dance top 20 hits “Mhm Mhm”, “Miami” and “What Mama Said”.
Even though he has been in the music industry for as long as he can remember, being the core producer for several successful Romanian dance acts, he debuted the Manuel Riva project only a few years ago.
His debut single, “Mhm Mhm”, was a smash-hit, being nominated for the Best Romanian Act award at the EMA’s and reaching number one in the Shazam tops in Romania, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Moldova, Lithuania and Armenia. The song charted in countries such as Italy, where it entered the Top 20 Spotify Viral and MTV Italy Top 10 Dance Chart, France and UK, while managing to cross the Atlantic, where it peaked at #20 in the Billboard Dance Club Chart and at #10 in the Breakout Billboard Club Chart. Along the years, tracks such as “Mhm Mhm”, “Sacred Touch”, “Hey Now”, “We’re Only Human” or “Kiyomi” were mixed or included in world’s biggest DJ’s radio shows, such as Tiësto, Fedde Le Grand, Sam Feldt, Oliver Heldens, Cosmic Gate, Sander van Doorn, Robin Schulz or Max Vangheli.
He followed up on his international success with – “Miami” – a collaboration with Alexandra Stan. The song topped the Romanian charts soon after its release, also becoming Manuel Riva’s second single to enter a Billboard Chart, this time peaking inside the Top 10 Billboard Dance Club Songs, while entering the Billboard Hot Dance and Electronic Songs Chart too.
He was chosen as the opening act for the famous Untold Festival in both 2017 and 2018, while “Miami” was the official anthem of the Neversea Festival.
Manuel Riva is built as an alter ego of the DJ. More than that, “It’s a project about musical revolution made through love. My tracks are about what I’ve seen, about stories that I have lived.”
Besides the musical statement that he is making, Manuel Riva is a fashion statement made to inspire as well. He is wearing a mask at all times as an instrument against labels, a tool that won’t put him in a box.
His latest release – “What Mama Said” – is Riva’s second collaboration with Misha Miller. The song premiered on the 23rd of May and besides the domestic success it enjoyed, “What Mama Said” also had success outside the Romanian borders. It was listed in Billboard’s Dance Club Songs chart in 2019, culminating at the 19th position and becoming Manuel’s 3rd song that entered the American brand’s charts. Moreover, Riva’s hit was featured inside Top 30 in the Italian Shazam chart.
